Check independent² reviewers AV‑Comparatives.org, AV‑Test.org, MRG Effitas, and SE Labs to find the best of the best.  If a security vendor isn't in these reviewers' lists, ignore it, no matter who else recommended it (phone company, TV, partner, friend, search, spam message).
